You know very well how unpleasant it can be to lose all the photos and videos saved on your smartphone, especially if it gets damaged or lost. In these cases it is a good idea to synchronize all photos and videos with a cloud service, so as to keep all your memories in a “virtual” space, regardless of the fate of your phone. If you have a Xiaomi device, the advantage is even more evident, since the cloud is integrated! In this guide I will show you how to save photos and videos automatically on Xiaomi, taking advantage of the automatic backups offered by the Mi Cloud service.
Save photos and videos on Xiaomi automatically
Do you remember iCloud, the Apple storage system? Well, Mi Cloud is something like that. You can archive all data automatically, for free up to 5GB capacity, such as messages, contacts, photos, etc. and access it with other devices. Not only this, you also have the ability to search for your device wherever it is, and if you have lost, you can do a factory reset from your PC. But now let’s see how you can conveniently save your photos or videos in the Xiaomi cloud.
Registration for Mi Cloud
Before you can save photos and videos on the cloud of Xiaomi you must register with Mi Cloud, otherwise you will not be able to use the free space to synchronize your data.
If you have not set up an Mi account when you first start the phone, you can do so at any time using the following link.
LINK | Registration My Account
Enter your country and provide a valid email address to register your account, then press the Create My Account button. If you want to associate the account using the phone number (definitely more convenient, even for password recovery) use the Create button using a phone number. Whatever the route taken on the second screen you will be asked for your personal information and you will need to choose an access password for your account.
Once you have created the Mi Account, turn on your Xiaomi smartphone and go to the Settings -> My Account menu to log in.
Enter the email or phone number as a username and the password chosen while creating the account. Once the device has been associated with your Mi Account, you will see the entry Mi Cloud in the respective menu.
Save photos and videos on the Xiaomi cloud
Now that your device is associated with the Mi Account, you can save photos and videos automatically on Xiaomi. To do this, turn on your Xiaomi device and go to the menu Settings -> My Account -> Mi Cloud, then tap on the Other items in sync.
In the window that opens, tap the gallery item to see all the sync options.
Check the first item to save photos and videos automatically on Xiaomi. With the second option you can make backups only when you are connected to a WiFi network (recommended since synchronization can be very expensive in terms of data).
If you want to save photos and videos automatically on Xiaomi and at the same time save space in internal memory by activating the option optimize the local storage space after the backup, which allows you to keep the original files saved on the cloud while on your mobile device will be kept only of low-resolution copies, so as to take up much less space.
