Steps To Create Your First Blog
The complete process to setting up your blog should only take you about 20 minutes. After that, your blog will be online and ready for you to start blogging!
Before you can start blogging, there are two things to do:
1. Choose a domain name.
Already have a domain? Go to # 2
The domain name of this blog is teknologya.com. If you type this domain name into a web browser all over the world, you will be directed to this site.
Good blog names are unique and descriptive, so your audience will immediately know what your blog is about.
The other option is to simply use your own name. You can also add your first name or initials if your name is already taken.
Many of the best bloggers use their own names as domain names. This has the other advantage of preventing someone else from saving your name, which allows you to secure your “virtual heritage”.
Once you have blog name ideas, you will need to choose a domain extension.
.com is the most popular, but .net and .org are also good. I suggest avoiding other extensions like .us or .biz, because they are not familiar to most people.
You may find the domain name you already want. This happens to us all. In fact, it happened to me for this site too. technology.com( because I wanted to write about technology) being already taken, I chose teknologya.com instead. If you find that the desired name is already taken, you can try adding simple words like “the”, “a” or “my” at the beginning of the name, or dashes between words like create-a-blog. com.
See if your domain name is available
Note: You can not use punctuation other than hyphens in a domain name.
2. Choose a web host.
A web host is a company that stores all the files for your blog and forwards them to the user when they enter your domain name. You must have a web host to have a blog.
Choosing a bad host will condemn your blog right from the start. Users will be frustrated with slow loading and you can often find your blog simply offline (elder!).
There are hundreds of web hosts to choose from, but my recommendation for your blog is BlueHost. In fact, BlueHost is the host I use for Teknologya.com. I have been very happy with BlueHost for many years now and recommend them for all new bloggers because:
- They offer a simple and free installation of all popular blogging tools, including WordPress (the one I recommend and shows you how to use in this guide).
- They have been recommended by WordPress since 2005 and currently host more than 2 million websites.
- They offer quality customer service 24/7 by phone, email or web chat.
- They offer a “money back guarantee” if you are not satisfied for any reason.
Because BlueHost is a quality web host, they cost a little more ($ 7.99 per month) than low-quality web hosts. There is however a way to get a discount. If you use any of the links on this site, you can get BlueHost quality service for only $ 3.95 per month (for 36 months), including a free domain name.
