Which is Better Huawei P30 or Huawei P20? Here is what changes between the top two of the Chinese giant, the differences and the features compared between the new and the old model.

Huawei P30 vs Huawei P20: the latest addition to the Chinese giant has all it takes to stand as the best Android smartphone of 2019. On the other hand, even the P20 of last year still holds a slice of fans that (thanks to strong lower prices) make it still a smartphone with excellent and super convenient features. What changes between the two models and which one to choose?

We are talking about the two top-of-the-line models from Huawei, both available in two versions: P30 and P30 Pro, for those who are more oriented towards buying the latest model, and P20 and P20 Pro for those who want to settle for less while saving purchase.

Let’s try to see the differences and the features compared to Huawei P30 and Huawei P20 and what is the best to buy in value for money.

Huawei P30 vs P20: screen and features in comparison

Huawei P20 has a 5.8-inch screen and a central notch that obviously looks nasty compared to the tiny one designed for the P30 display, with a drop shape and 6.1 inches. Change the type, LCD on P20 and latest generation OLED on P30, with a fairly similar resolution (1080 x 2244 pixels for the P20 vs 1080 x 2340 pixels for the P30).

Under the body instead we find some similar but obviously more powerful hardware features on P30 like the Kirin 980 CPU (against Kirin 970), a 6 GB RAM for the P30 against the “only” 4 GB of P20. The maximum basic memory is 128 GB for both devices, except that in the case of Huawei P30 it is expandable only through the nanoSD card, while P20 still exploits the still widespread microSD memory system.

The battery is slightly more powerful on Huawei P30, with 3650 mAh, but the P20 is still a small sample of autonomy thanks to its 3400 mAh.

Huawei P30 vs P20: comparison camera

“Rewrite the rules of photography” is the slogan with which Huawei P30, with its 40, 16 and 8 megapixe triple camera, was launched to the public. The comparison with P20, which supports a dual external 12 + 20 megapixel camera, sees the latter inevitably defeated.

Huawei P30 has been designed to provide the best features with regard to mobile photography: photos in the dark know no rivals but P20 still manages to do so more than discreetly compared to the rivals available on the market, relying on the new LEICA lens model. Also improved to the front camera, with 32 megapixels against the 24 of the previous device.

The lack of the triple camera can be circumvented by choosing P20 Pro (which has enhanced features compared to the basic model) which mounts three 40, 20 and 8 megapixel sensors. Obviously, P30 Pro in this case does even more by adding a fourth TOF sensor capable of detecting the depth and three-dimensionality of the environment.

On the other hand, the features for the video capturing are excellent: resolution up to 4K 2160p at 30 fps per second.

Huawei P30 vs P20: price

The price war is, inevitably, won by Huawei P20: the old model has in fact suffered a sharp cut in prices compared to last year, now being able to be purchased on offer even from 439.50 dollars.

Huawei P30 actually costs twice as much, with a launch price starting at 749.50 dollars (but destined to fall over the months). For those who want even better performance and closer to the P30, they can opt for the P20 Pro, now easily traceable even below 550 dollars. The choice is yours: go straight to the new top of the range Huawei, even with a much higher price, or wait a few months saving on the excellent P20 or P20 Pro.
