However, if you are here now and you are reading this tutorial it is clear that even having “grasped” the concept behind the operation of the famous app there is still something that is not very clear to you.
In particular, you would like to understand how to tag on Instagram. Given the situation, I am happy to inform you that this time you can count on my help. In the following lines, I will go to show you all you have to do to succeed in your intent, step by step.
Contrary to appearances tagging on Instagram is a fairly simple operation to carry out and for the setting of which we must certainly not be great experts in social networks and new technologies.
Believe me then, tagging on Instagram is a real breeze and I’m sure you’ll just have to do the procedure together only once to understand immediately how to do it yourself later.

Depending on what your needs are, you can tag on Instagram in two different ways: directly in the photos or in the comments.
The procedure that must be performed to be able to tag on Instagram is therefore slightly different depending on the type of tagging you intend to perform, clearly choosing which type of tag to perform is up to you and only yourself.
Know however that in the first case it is possible to tag on Instagram by acting only and exclusively on their photos while in the latter it is possible to intervene also on the videos and on the others’ content.
Tag on Instagram – Photo
If you are interested in understanding how to tag on Instagram by acting on a photo yet to be shared just to start, start the app on your smartphone and then press the blue button representing a camera that you find at the bottom center of the screen.
Then choose whether to go to act on any photos already in the gallery of your phone by pressing on Gallery and selecting an image or taking new photos by tapping on Photos.
Next, choose the filter you want to use for your content by selecting one of the many available and if you think it is appropriate to adjust all the main parameters of the image using the appropriate buttons visible on the screen. When you are satisfied with the result, you can proceed by pressing the Next item located at the top right.
In the screen that opens, type the caption with which you want to accompany the image in the appropriate text field, select the social networking services on which to share the photo in addition to Instagram and possibly indicate the location of the shot by pressing on the item Add a location.
If in your shot there are friends or acquaintances who have an account on Instagram you can tag them proceeding in a manner similar to what you can do on Facebook and other social networks.
To tag on Instagram you just need to press on the item Tag people, then touch at the point where you want to make the tag (if there are the faces of people you intend to tag I suggest you select these), type the name of him or the one you want to tag in the field Search for a person and then press on the suggestion that is shown to you. Repeat this procedure for each individual user who wants to tag in photos.
After that, the tag will appear on your shot and you can possibly place it in a different position from the current one by simply pressing on it and dragging it or, in case of change, you can remove it by pressing on it and then tap on the x that will appear on the side. After adding the tag or tags and after making all the changes you want, press the item Finish which is placed at the top right of the screen that is shown to you.
To conclude and then to share your photo and to complete the procedure by which to tag on Instagram, tap the blue button Share at the bottom of the screen and wait a moment to upload your shot is executed and for the photo to be shared Network.
When sharing is done, the tagged person will receive a notification in the Activity tab indicating that a tag has been added to your photo.
The other user can also view and choose whether to make visible to third parties or not the photo in which you have done to tag it by accessing the section of Instagram dedicated to your profile and pressing the button depicting a little man that is placed on the right.
If instead, you want to understand how to tag on Instagram going to act on a photo that has already been shared the first thing you need to do is to identify the shot of your property on which you want to intervene.
Then, press on the preview of your photo and then tap the icon with the three dots located at the top right and choose the item Edit from the menu that is shown on the screen.
Then, press Tag people placed in the lower left part of the click to tag on Instagram and then touch the point of the photo in which you want to run the tag (if there are faces of people you intend to tag I suggest you select these ), type the name of the one you want to tag in the field Search for a person and, finally, press on the suggestion that is shown to you. Repeat this procedure for each individual user who wants to tag in photos.
After that the tag will appear on your shot and you can possibly place it in a different position from the current one by simply pressing on it and dragging it or, in case of change, you can remove it by pressing on it and then tap on the x that will appear on the side.
After adding the tag or tags and after making all the changes you want, press the item Finish which is placed at the top right of the screen that is shown to you and then tap again on OK.
Even in this case, the person tagged in the picture will receive a notification indicating the fact that a tag has been added to your photo.
The other user can also view and choose whether to make visible to third parties or not the shot in which you have done to tag it after tap on the icon in the shape of a little man attached to the section of Instagram dedicated to the profile.
Keep in mind that whether you chose to tag on Instagram when sharing a photo, whether you chose to do it later, you can add the tag of anyone’s username except for the people you’ve blocked and/or provided to lock you.
Tag on Instagram – Comments
If you are interested in tagging on Instagram by going to mention other users in the comments the first thing you need to do is publish or locate the photo or video that you intend to comment.
Once you find the photo or video presses on its preview and then tap on the icon in the form of a comic present under the photo or video and fill out the field Add a comment by typing at the rate symbol ( @ ) with attached the username of the person to tag, for example @teknologya17.
If you wish, after typing the name of the user to tag, you can add your own message next to it, for example @teknologya17 hello!.
Finally, press the green button Send placed on the side. Once this is done the tagged comment will be published under the previously selected content and, as I mentioned a few lines ago, the tagged person will receive a notification in the Activity tab that will inform you of the fact that he was mentioned by you.
Now that you’ve finally figured out how to tag on Instagram in the comments, however, there are some things that you should know to avoid making mistakes.
To begin with, keep in mind that although you have been blocked by a person on Instagram you can still mention his name as a comment under a photo or video but the tag will not be visible in his Activity tab.
In addition, if you have been blocked by someone and the latter changes his username you will no longer be able to mention the person in question unless you know his new nickname.
Know then that if a person with a private profile tags the username of someone who is not an approved follower in a comment to a photo or video the person in question will be able to see a part of the comment in the section of the Activity tab.
Finally, keep in mind that if you send a photo or video to a group of users using the Direct function, only those people will be able to see the tags associated with that particular content.
