MacOS 10.15 is coming: when does the new version of the Mac operating system developed for Apple terminals release? Here are all the news.
The expectation for the new MacOS 10.15 is growing: the Mac operating system dedicated to Apple computers will be presented at WWDC 2019 and there are many new features and new features expected, starting from the release date and official name.
The new Apple operating system will replace the current MacOS Mojave and the update will be supported for all the latest-generation apple devices. Among the main innovations we have a greater integration between the iOS and MacOS ecosystems, the probable farewell to iTunes (destined to be divided into different apps), the Marzipan project for developers and much more. Here’s all you need to know.
MacOS 10.15: what will it be called?
First of all, the name: what will the new Mac operating system be called? Apple computers have always had specific and distinctive names, based since 2013 on the main California locations.
The name of the new macOS 10.15 is not yet official, but the first rumors indicate some clues: Apple would have registered some names last year (including Mojave, used for the current version of the operating system). Among those who could label the new version we have Mammoth, Monterey, Rincon and Skyline.
Mammoth, which refers to the mountain location of Mammoth Lakes in California, was registered as a trademark earlier this month, which indicates it as a favorite.
Marzipan: unique apps for iOS and MacOS?
The Marzipan project is a feature that should allow iOS developers to port some Mac apps. A bit like the News, Borsa etc. apps in the current MacOS Mojave, perfectly carried by the same ones available on iOS 12.
Despite having quite similar development codes, app developers for iOS and Mac are currently forced to use different programming methods for their realization. The goal of Apple and the Marzipan project is to create a new development concept that allows the transfer of iOS and MacOS apps more quickly and unambiguously, increasing the experience for users who use the Apple ecosystem. MacOS 10.15 could therefore continue what has already begun to be seen, albeit in an embryonic form, with Mojave.
Goodbye iTunes?
Apple’s intentions have been rumored for some time: iTunes, a historic Cupertino program, could retire in favor of dismembering the various functions in order to create apps that cover the same functions but in a separate way.
The current version of iTunes as we know it seems destined for extinction: the program has in fact grown out of proportion for a long time, implementing more and more functions that have distorted its purely musical nature.
Apple seems to have listened to the growing complaints of its users, aiming to divide iTunes into many different programs: the Music app, dedicated to managing songs, Podcasts, Books, TV. Apps dedicated to what are now specific functions of iTunes, often considered too complicated and mechanical.
Siri, quick commands and time usage
In recent years and with iOS 12 Siri has grown, allowing some quick commands to be activated to activate functions directly requesting the help of the voice assistant. This function could also arrive on macOS allowing you to activate various functions simply through voice commands.
Even the time usage, a feature introduced by the latest iOS 12 updates and much appreciated by users, will debut on macOS 10.15: the detailed report on how much time we spend working on Mac will help users set limits and preferences for a more aware use of Apple device.
