What is WhatsApp QR Code?
The QR Code of the profile is different from the one used to log in to WhatsApp Web or the desktop version of the messenger. The QR Code of the profile is used to facilitate the initiation of a conversation: instead of having to add a contact in the phonebook and then start the conversation, just scan the code to open the contact’s chat – without even having it in the contacts.
Now, you can add or not add the contact, depending on the purpose of the conversation. The QR Code is like a phone number, unique for each user and only changes if it is reset or if the account is deleted.
How to reset the personal WhatsApp QR Code
On iPhone (iOS):
- On WhatsApp, tap on “Settings” (the gear icon);
- Touch the QR Code icon, next to your name;
- When opening the screen with your QR Code, select the option “Reset QR code”;
- Confirm the action.
On Android:
- In WhatsApp, touch the icon of the three dots, in the upper right corner;
- Select “Settings”;
- Touch the QR Code icon, next to your photo;
- After the QR code screen opens, touch the three dots in the upper right corner;
- Select the option to reset the code;
- Confirm the action.
How to reset in the Business account
WhatsApp Business for iPhone:
- In WhatsApp Business, tap on “Settings” (the gear icon);
- Tap on “Business Tools”;
- Access “Short link”;
- Touch “QR code”;
- Touch “Reset QR code” and confirm the action.
WhatsApp Business for Android:
- In WhatsApp Business, tap on the three dots icon in the upper right corner;
- Select “Business tools”;
- Access “Short link”;
- Tap on “View QR code”;
- When opening the code, touch the three dots in the upper right corner;
- Select “Reset QR code” and confirm the action.
Remember: both in personal WhatsApp and in the business account, once the QR code is reset, the previous one will no longer work. If you made labels or printed the image to facilitate contact, you will lose the old link.
