Does your child sit online all day and watch videos on your phone and consumes a lot of your mobile data? Not just this, sometimes they even watch the content which they are not supposed to watch, see ads and press youtube subscribe button which they shouldn’t? Unfortunately, this is a problem in every home. Here the solutions come as YouTube Kids. Using YouTube Kids without the internet requires the device owner (in this case, the parents) to be a YouTube Premium subscriber. Therefore, the first step is to subscribe to YouTube’s paid service – with ads and exclusive content – and watch offline videos on your phone or tablet. If you are already a subscriber, just manage your settings.
Whether on the iPhone or iPad (iOS) or Android, the steps are quite similar.
How to use YouTube Kids without internet
First of all, sign in to YouTube Kids in order to save videos offline.
- Search the video you want to download to view without internet;
- Tap the three-point menu and select “save offline”;
- If you want to stop this process, touch “Stop saving video”.
You need to repeat the process for each video you want to save on your phone.
Saved videos are available for up to 48 hours and the amount will depend on the storage space of the device you are using. It may be necessary to delete old videos to include new ones in the intervale of a weekend, for example.
Watching and removing saved videos (make space)
This process can only be done by the account manager, so use the password.
- Touch the lock icon at the bottom of the app;
- Read and enter the numbers that appear or enter your password;
- Select “offline videos”;
- Touch the three-dot menu next to the video you want to remove;
- Select “remove offline” from each saved old video.
To just watch the saved videos, just stop at “offline videos” and watch without deleting.
Some Important Details on Saving Videos on YouTube Kids
By default, videos can only be saved via Wi-Fi connections. To save videos with your mobile network (the cellular data network) you need some adjustments.
- Touch the lock icon at the bottom of the app;
- Read and enter the numbers that appear or enter your password;
- Touch “Settings” and then “Offline”;
- On the “Save only over Wi-Fi” radio button, select “Off”.
Once you’ve done that, you’ll be able to save videos using data from your phone, but this will consume your package a lot. So just do this if you do not run out of resources.
If you are going to download videos using data plan, be aware that you can also set the standard quality of the video. High quality content can consume more data and take time to appear offline, as well as take up more space on the phone.

- Touch “Video Quality” and choose the default quality you prefer.
