Tend (“Tend”, “we”, “us”) is a daily astrology app. This policy explains, in plain language, what we do and don’t do with your information. The short version: your birth details live on your phone, we run no servers and no accounts, and we never sell your data.
1. Who we are
Tend is operated by P. Nandini, based in India. You can reach us at ankit8053@gmail.com. Tend uses birth-chart mathematics to generate a short, personal daily reading. We have no accounts and operate no servers that store your data.
2. What we collect
2.1 Onboarding information
To build your chart and write your readings, you give us:
- your first name,
- your date of birth,
- your time of birth (optional),
- your place of birth (a city, which we turn into coordinates and a time zone),
- your preference choices (such as the tone of your readings), stored as labels.
Storage: locally on your device, in the app’s local storage. Not transmitted to any server we operate.
2.2 Generated data
Also stored locally on your device:
- your computed birth chart,
- your daily readings/cards (cached) and any cards you save,
- app preferences, streak, and notification settings.
Not transmitted to any server we operate.
2.3 Information we do NOT collect
Tend does not collect: email, phone number, legal name, GPS or precise location, contacts, photos, calendar data, advertising identifiers (IDFA / Android Advertising ID), device IDs, payment information, health data, or biometric data.
No third-party analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, or attribution SDKs are used.
3. How your information is used
3.1 On your device
- Calculates your astrological chart using the
astronomy-enginelibrary. - Composes and personalizes your daily reading.
- Schedules your notifications locally.
- Paces in-app prompts.
3.2 Outbound network calls
Google Gemini API (generativelanguage.googleapis.com)
- Sent: your first name and your computed chart facts (planetary positions and the day’s transits).
- Not sent: your raw date, time, or exact place of birth; your email; or any device identifiers.
- Used only to return the wording of your reading. This is subject to Google’s privacy terms.
OpenStreetMap / Nominatim (nominatim.openstreetmap.org)
- Sent: the birth-city text you type when searching for your place of birth.
- Not sent: your name, identifiers, or device location.

3.3 What we don’t do
We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, retarget you, build behavioral profiles, or run analytics.

No server we operate stores your data.
5. How long we keep it
Local data persists until you either:
- open Settings → Erase my data (immediate deletion of your chart, saved cards, and preferences), or
- delete the app.
Data sent to third parties is retained per their own policies (Google, OpenStreetMap).
6. Your choices and rights
Because your data lives on your device, you control it:
- Access: it’s all visible in the app.
- Correct: edit your profile anytime.
- Delete: Settings → Erase my data, or delete the app.
- Restrict: toggle notifications off at any time.
- Portability: your data is already on your device.
- Object: delete the app at any time.
For EU/UK (GDPR), California (CCPA/CPRA), and India (DPDP) residents: you have rights to access, correct, and delete your information, to object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under U.S. state laws. The data controller is P. Nandini; the lawful basis for the limited processing above is your request to receive the service (consent / performance). To exercise any right, email ankit8053@gmail.com.
7. Children
Tend is not intended for children under 13 (or under 16 where required in the EU/UK), and we do not knowingly collect their data. A parent or guardian can contact us to have a child’s data removed (or simply use Erase my data).
8. International users
Data stored on your device is governed by the laws of your own jurisdiction. When you use the reading or city-search features, the limited data described above is sent to Google (operating globally) and OpenStreetMap (typically EU-based); by using those features you consent to that transfer.
9. Security
Your data stays on your device under your device’s own protections: encryption at rest when the device is locked, and app sandboxing that keeps your data isolated from other apps. All outbound calls use encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections. We store no accounts or passwords. The Gemini API key is bundled in the app binary (standard mobile practice) and monitored, with rotation as needed; we may move AI requests behind a server proxy in a future version.
10. Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the effective date above and post the new version in the app and at our public policy URL. Material changes will be flagged in the app’s release notes.
