The popular Google Chrome browser allows us to sync your bookmarks, passwords and miscellaneous settings via our Google account. Both the desktop version and the mobile version have an excellent password manager, which allows us to synchronize passwords between all our devices. One of the most interesting features offered by Chrome for iOS is the ability to export passwords saved in the browser as CVS files. This way we can keep our passwords safe from any problems.
Export passwords on iOS
First of all, we need to make sure we have installed the latest version of Google Chrome on our iOS device. The procedure to be able to export the various passwords is really easy and fast.
- We open Google Chrome;
- Select the menu icon at the top right;
- Select the Settings item;
- In the new screen select the item Password;
- At this point we will be shown the list of all the password saved;
- Scroll down the list and select the Export password entry;
- Select the Export password entry;
- We confirm the operation with the Touch ID or by entering the device code.
Once this is done, we will have to choose where to save the CSV file containing all the passwords. You can save it in your device’s internal memory, on a cloud service such as Drive, or send it via email. The file in question will consist of four columns: website name, URL, username and password.
Conclusions
The exported file will not be protected by any password and will not be encrypted. In this way, any malicious persons can easily access our personal data. For this reason it is advisable to create a password-protected zipped file and delete the original unsecured CSV file.
