Knowing how to create a restore point on Windows 10 is extremely important when you want to bring the operating system back to its previous state. The procedure known as “Restore Point“, as we will see shortly, allows you to recover software and files stored on your PC, without having to resort to formatting and a whole series of installations.

The fastest method starts from the graphical interface of the operating system. Just open Cortana or Start and type “Restore Point“. At this point, you will see the words “Create Recovery Point” (this is the first item on the list). Click on it. You will see a window related to the properties of Windows 10. Go to the “System Protection” tab and click on “Create“, down on the right.
These are the operations necessary to create the operating system recovery point. Finally, all you have to do is enter the name of the “Restore Point” and, once you have completed the procedure, you have completed your goal.
And if a crash occurred? If there was a malfunction? Here’s how to create restore point on Windows 10
In the event of crashes or malfunctions on the PC, to “bring back to life” installed software and files in memory, it is necessary to “play the card” of the backup.
Close all windows and, in case, save data on open programs. As already said before, go to “Start“, type the string “Recovery Point“. In this situation, it will be necessary to use the backup, since its creation is not necessary. Therefore, select the “System Restore” button and, after displaying the dialog box containing all the information on how to use the Restore Point, click on “Next“. You will see the complete list of currently available recovery points: for each of these, the date and time of creation is shown. Choose the one you are interested in (usually the most recent) and enter the flag in “Show additional recovery points“. You will also be shown hidden ones.
Now select the restore point and click on the “Search for affected programs” button. With a click on “Next” you will give the proceed to the procedure, returning Windows 10 to the antecedent state.
Result of what was completed? The system settings will be restored to the indicated point, personal files will remain unchanged, Windows 10 updates will be kept in memory. Clearly the apps installed following the creation of the restore point will not be there.
