1. Agreement
These Terms of Service (“Terms“) govern your use of the Celestia iPhone app (“Celestia“, “the app“), made by Ankit Bhardwaj (“we“, “us“, “our“).
By installing or using Celestia, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may use Celestia only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
2. What Celestia is
Celestia is a personal-reflection app. It uses your birth-chart data — the planetary positions for your time and place of birth — as the input to a written-reflection layer that helps you think about yourself, your patterns, and your relationships.
The reflections are produced by combining:
- An astronomical engine that calculates planetary positions (the open-source
astronomy-enginelibrary). - A traditional Western astrology reasoning layer that turns those positions into themes.
- A generative AI layer (Google Gemini) that turns those themes into written prompts and replies.
Celestia is intended for entertainment, reflection, and self-development. It is not a substitute for professional advice.
3. Reflection, not advice
Celestia provides reflective content, not advice. Specifically:
- Celestia is not medical advice. Do not use it to diagnose, treat, or make decisions about a physical or mental-health condition. Talk to a qualified clinician.
- Celestia is not legal advice. Do not use it to make decisions about a legal matter. Talk to a lawyer.
- Celestia is not financial advice. Do not use it to make investment, tax, or major-purchase decisions. Talk to a qualified financial professional.
- Celestia is not relationship counseling. Reflections about your relationships are perspective prompts, not therapy. If you are experiencing relationship distress, abuse, or a mental-health crisis, please contact a qualified professional.
If you are in crisis, please reach a local crisis line. In the U.S., you can dial 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, text HOME to 741741 for Crisis Text Line, or call 1-800-799-7233 for the National Domestic Violence Hotline. Outside the U.S., your country likely has equivalent services — please use them.
4. AI-generated content
Some content in Celestia is generated by Google’s Gemini generative-AI service. AI content:
- Is generated probabilistically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, or inappropriate for your situation.
- Does not represent fact, forecast, or recommendation.
- May vary between sessions even for similar inputs.
- Is labeled inside the app — including with a small “✦ AI” tag on chat messages and a “AI-generated · for reflection, not advice” line on generated readings.
You agree not to rely on AI content for any decision where accuracy or fitness for purpose matters. You agree not to attempt to extract underlying prompts, jailbreak the safety wrapper, or use the AI to generate content that violates Section 7 below.
If an AI message harms you or someone else, you can report it from inside the app using the small “Send to team” link, or by emailing ankytbhardwaj@gmail.com.
5. Astrology disclaimer
Astrology is not a science. Celestia uses astrological calculations as the engine that generates reflective content. Whether you find the content meaningful is up to you.
We make no claims that astrological information predicts the future, identifies absolute personality traits, or describes objective reality. The app’s daily readings, compatibility readings, and reports are written prompts, not predictions.
6. Your data
How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy.
In short: your data is stored on your device. There are no Celestia accounts. You can delete everything from Profile → Reset App Data. Deleting the app from your device deletes everything entirely.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Celestia to:
- Harass, threaten, defame, or otherwise harm any person — including yourself or any person you add to your Connections.
- Enter information about a person who has not consented to having their birth details added to your device.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code, model weights, or AI prompts from the app.
- Probe, scan, or test the security of the app or our service providers.
- Use the app or its AI features to generate content that is unlawful, sexually explicit, hateful, or that targets minors.
- Attempt to disable or evade the in-app safety mechanisms (the consent prompt, the crisis-resource intercept, or the per-message AI label).
- Use the app to make automated, programmatic, or bulk requests to the underlying AI service.
- Use the app in any way that violates these Terms, Apple’s App Store Guidelines, or the law.
8. People you add to Connections
When you add a partner, friend, family member, colleague, or any other person to your Connections, you confirm that:
- They have shared their birth details with you for this purpose, or the information is publicly available about them.
- You will not share or display insights generated by Celestia about another person in a way that harms, harasses, or embarrasses them.
- You will respect their privacy and remove them from your Connections promptly if they ask you to.
9. Intellectual property
The Celestia app, its name, its visual identity, its design system, its on-device prompts, and its written content (other than your own data and the AI-generated text returned for your prompts) are owned by Ankit Bhardwaj.
You retain ownership of any content you create in the app — your journal entries, your AI conversations, the Connections you add. We do not claim rights over your content.
For the AI-generated text returned in response to your prompts: as between you and us, you may use that text for your personal, non-commercial reflection. You agree not to redistribute the AI text in a way that misrepresents it as a forecast, professional advice, or a fact.
10. Open-source software
Celestia is built on open-source libraries, including:
astronomy-engine(MIT) — planetary position math.- Expo and the React Native ecosystem (MIT).
- Various smaller libraries listed in the app’s
package.json.
Their respective licenses apply.
11. Service availability
We try to keep Celestia working. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service or that AI features will always be available. Specifically:
- AI features depend on Google Gemini‘s availability.
- Birth-city lookup depends on OpenStreetMap / Nominatim‘s availability.
- The on-device astronomical engine works without a network.
We may update, change, or remove features at any time, with or without notice, including for reasons related to safety, compliance, or platform requirements.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
Celestia is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that the content will meet your expectations.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising from or related to your use of Celestia.
Our total cumulative liability to you is limited to the greater of (a) USD $50 or (b) the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim — which, for the free version of the app, is $0.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations. In those cases, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
14. Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Ankit Bhardwaj from any claim or demand made by any third party that arises out of (a) your violation of these Terms, (b) your violation of any law, or (c) your use of Celestia in a way that harms a third party — including through the entry of a third party’s birth data without their consent.
15. Termination
You can stop using Celestia anytime by deleting it from your device.
We can suspend or terminate your access to the app or its AI features if you violate these Terms or use the app in a way that harms other users or our service providers.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms when the app changes. Material changes will be flagged in the app’s release notes, and the Last updated date at the top of this page will move forward.
If you keep using Celestia after a material change, you accept the updated Terms.
17. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of Celestia will be resolved in the courts located in India, unless your local law prevents this.
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
18. Apple App Store
If you obtained Celestia from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge:
- These Terms are between you and us, not Apple.
- Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app.
- In the event of a product warranty failure, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price; beyond that, Apple has no warranty obligations.
- Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and has the right to enforce them against you.
- You comply with all U.S. export laws and confirm you are not in a country subject to a U.S. embargo and not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Any product-liability claim is the responsibility of us, not Apple.
