Starting with macOS Mojave, and therefore the latest version of the operating system currently available, Apple has decided to offer the possibility for users to activate a night mode on their desktop devices. In this article we will go then to see how to enable this “Dark Mode” and above all to understand on which Macs it is possible to do it.
All macs compatible with macOS Mojave and Dark Mode
Obviously, as previously mentioned, the download and installation of macOS Mojave is necessary for the activation of the dark mode. Before starting, let’s see what are the machines on which the aforementioned operating system is present.
- MacBook (beginning 2015 or newer)
- MacBook Air (mid-2012 or newer)
- MacBook Pro (mid-2012 or newer)
- Mac mini (end 2012 or newer)
- iMac (late 2012 or newer)
- iMac Pro (2017)
- Mac Pro (late 2013, mid 2010 and mid 2012)
Once verified the compatibility it will be enough to update, in the case in which this had not been done previously, and to complete the following procedure.
- Click on the apple symbol at the top left
- Continue with “System Preferences …”
- Continue with the “General” panel
- Choose “Dark” in the “Appearance” settings
Thanks to the preferences on the “color detail” you can also change the appearance of the elements which is generally highlighted in blue. To return to the clear mode simply perform the same actions and choose “Clear”.
