In recent hours, an increasing number of users have reported that their license of Windows 10 Pro is no longer active.
UPDATE | Microsoft has confirmed that the problem should have been resolved automatically in the past few hours. However, if the situation has not yet returned to normal, you can follow these steps to reactivate the license:
- Go to Settings > Update and security > Activation
- Follow the wizard to solve the problem.
It is also possible to force the reactivation manually:
- Type cmd in the Start search bar, open the Prompt as an administrator and press Enter.
- Type slmgr. vbs -ipk product-key (instead of product-key, enter the serial number of your Windows 10 license) and press Enter.
Fix downgrade Windows 10 license coming soon
The downgrade has been noticed in the last hours: many receive a message asking to activate Windows 10 Home, even if you are running Windows 10 Pro. The problem would be entirely attributable to the Colossus of Redmond. According to official support, Microsoft is aware of the problem and is working to resolve it as soon as possible. Users affected by this problem will be notified when the bug is fixed. The fix could arrive in the next 24 or 48 hours. In the newsroom we did not find this downgrade and it would seem to be a problem present in all versions of Windows, even in Insider builds.
