How to improve the wizard’s equipment in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Improving Geralt’s equipment in The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt is an essential task, because although you have several swords, axes and armor at your disposal, they wear out over time, becoming fragile and inefficient. Check out how to repair and upgrade the wizard’s equipment in The Witcher 3 in the following tutorial.

How to improve the wizard’s equipment in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

1. Improving equipment

In The Witcher 3, your gear wears out over time, from your weapons to armor components such as chest, boots and gloves. To repair the damage, you can either use blacksmiths and gunsmiths, who can be found in different locations on the map, to do it on your own, even if in a limited way.

To use the services of a gunsmith or blacksmith, do the following:

  1. Find a blacksmith or armorer to repair your weapons and armor;
  2. Talk to the blacksmith and select the store option (buy items);
  3. Within the menu, press the back button, select “Item Creation”, “Repair”;
  4. Select the items you want to repair and confirm.

Geralt can repair equipment on his own in two ways: the first using repair kits, which need to be purchased or collected from shot down enemies, and the second is using a whetstone (photo), a free service that lasts only 15 minutes.

2. Forging equipment

In general, The Witcher 3 equipment has levels, ranging from Basic to Masterpiece. To forge them, you need to find diagrams and take them to blacksmiths (weapons) and armorers (armor), who charge for the service. Ordinary blacksmiths and gunsmiths, however, cannot create the best equipment in the game.

For this task, it is necessary to access the services of the Master-Armor Yoana (the supposed helper of the dwarf Fergus, found in Corvo do Corvo, in Velen) and of the Blacksmith Éibhear Hattori (the “cookie elf”, found in Novigrad). The services of both become available after completing their specific side missions, respectively “Masters Armors” and “About Swords and Dumplings”.

The method is the same for any gunsmith or blacksmith:

  1. Get a diagram for a weapon or armor.
    You can find them on the map at random or through salesperson tips, which will mark points on the map;
  2. Locate a gunsmith or blacksmith on the map to improve your equipment;
  3. Talk to the gunsmith/blacksmith and select the option to forge equipment;
  4. Select the diagram and perform the forge.
    You must have the necessary items for each new weapon or armor.

And ready.
