How to increase Torrent download speed by 400%

Follow these simple tips to speed up downloading Torrent. Today Torrent has become the most recommended application for downloading large files. As you know, Torrent download speed fluctuates a lot, some Torrents are fast and some of them are slow and the desire to increase Torrent download speed is a crucial element, some of the basic reasons for slow downloads are: a number lesser than seeders, low Internet speed, and more. But with the following trick you can easily improve and increase Torrent download speed quickly.

Be Careful: Use a VPN When Torrenting and follow these tips!

Before we start the guide you need to be careful while torrenting. There are risks in both accessing and downloading from a torrent website. These risks range from advertisements, malware, viruses, to ISP copyright infringement notifications and also government fines. Also, many ISPs significantly lower your download speed once torrenting is detected. I will suggest you use a secure VPN like NordVPN for torrenting to avoid detection by ISP and get good speed.

How to increase Torrent download speed by 400% with these simple steps

When you do this search on Google you are sure to find many websites that explain how to increase the download speed of Torrent but in this article, we are going to summarize all those methods and suggestions in a single post so that you can choose the best possible solution and try it.

1. Install a lightweight Torrent client:

Firstly, the step you need to follow to increase the Torrent download speed is to install a lightweight Torrent client, the reason for using a Torrent lightweight client is because it focuses only on downloading Torrent thus speeding up the transfer. Even though BitTorrent is considered the most popular Torrent client, the only problem is its heavy apps and other features. So, we prefer “uTorrent” to allow you a torrent download experience without problems and faster, you can also try to install this qBittorrent which is one of the best lightweight Torrent client based on what its users reported.

2. Choose a healthy Torrent:

To understand the concept of healthy torrent it is first necessary to know all the seeders and leecher present in the particular file, in simple terms a ‘seeder’ is the one who has a complete copy of the shared file through the network and a leecher is instead the one who has not a complete copy of the file but has joined the network to download it. So, once the leecher completes the download, it will also become a seeder for that same file. To obtain a high download speed, the number of seeders for the file must be greater than the number of leechers. In simple math it means that the higher the number of seeders, the healthier the Torrent file is. Then always check the seeder> leecher report before downloading any files.

3. Add an exception to Windows Firewall:

Since the Windows firewall can block your TorrenT client / incoming BitTorrent connections, it is better to add an exception to the Windows firewall to increase the download speed of your Torrent . All you need to do is navigate to Options> Preferences> Connections, and select the “Add Windows Firewall” exception and then click “Apply”.

(Select “Enable mapping” UPnP port in case it is deselected).

Note: Never stop your Windows Firewall permanently as the PC remains vulnerable to attack.

4. Change the General Settings to optimize uTorrent:

Select all 3 boxes in the general settings to increase the speed of your Torrent. You can access it from Options> Preferences> General and then select Add. Usually, the third option is checked by default, but if it is not, you can check it now.

5. Limit your upload and global download:

Limiting the upload and download speed of your Torrent is also one of the key ways to increase the torrent download speed on clients like qBitTorrent, BitTorrent, uTorrent and so on. Here, by setting the loading speed between 70-80% of the maximum upload speed and keeping the download speed 0, which is considered maximum, you get the best download speed possible. You can choose settings from Properties> Bandwidth, then set the global upload speed limit as 80% of your maximum upload.

6. Change the number of connections:

After setting the upload / download speed of your torrents, you should now consider changing the number of connections to avoid overloads. Changing the settings could give you a good result. But, for people who do not know it, we can pretty much suggest some rough numbers that could help you increase your Torrent’s download speed.

Go to Properties> Bandwidth, then set the global maximum number of connections to 150 and the maximum number of peer connections for Torrent to 100 and leave the upload slot as is without changing anything.

7. Add other trackers:

Adding more trackers seems to be a good option to optimize the Torrent download speed. When you add new trackers, it will add new seeds and peers, resulting in an improved download speed. Adding trackers to your Torrent is really easy, all you need to do is add these data links to your existing trackers.

Note: Do not delete existing trackers while pasting a new tracker, and do not worry about duplication.
