How to take a quick trip in The Witcher 3
The Witcher 3 map is huge, with several cities, forests, islands and several places to visit. However, the only ways to get around the game are on foot, on horseback or by boat.
If we consider the number of main and side missions that the game offers, chances are that you will spend a good part of the game just traveling around the scene.
But if you’re in a hurry between quests, know that it is possible to take a quick trip in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
However, there are some rules. It is not possible to travel from any point to anywhere on the continent. As you explore the scenarios, you’ll find signs near villages, roads, castles, etc.
When you visit them for the first time, they will be marked on your map with a green icon. Every time you want to take a quick trip, you will need to interact with one of these cards. Afterwards, the map will open and you will be able to choose another signpost at the location (or the one closest to it) you want to go to.
This means that, yes, you will have to visit a good part of the map on foot or on horseback at least once to unlock fast travel points. From there, your journey can get faster.
In the case of boats, the operation is similar: you need to have unlocked the location point first before you can use it on a quick trip.
The difference is that you don’t have to go to a specific point to travel to another; inside the boat, you can use fast travel there is a known place at any time. Points are marked with an anchor on the map.
There’s one more way to go fast in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt without relying so much on signposts. However, it is not official, being inserted into the game by a mod.
Mods are modifications created by third parties that alter various aspects of the games for which they were created, such as graphics, sounds, gameplay, and even bug fixes.
For The Witcher 3, there is a mod that allows you to travel to any signpost from anywhere.
- Download the files from this link (nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/324), you must be registered on the site;
- Unzip them in the Mods folder, inside the game folder (if the folder doesn’t exist, just create it);
- Reload the game, open the map and use fast travel whenever you want (by clicking on the green icons on the signposts);
The author of the mod does not recommend taking a quick trip during The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt missions, as this can “break” the game and make you lose all your progress in the game.
To uninstall the modification, simply delete the modFastTravelAnywhere folder.
