Steps to get the dynamic Mojave background on previous versions

Despite being presented by the Cupertino colossus as an exclusive function of the new Majove, it is possible to obtain the same type of background even in previous versions of macOS. Here’s how to proceed.

  1. First, download the Mojave background by clicking here;
  2. move the “mojave_dynamic” folder (without extracting the single images) into the “Images” folder of the Mac;
  3. Go to “Change desk background” by right clicking on the Desktop (alternatively, go to “Settings” and then “Desk and Screen Saver”);
  4. click on the “+” button, select the “mojave_dynamic” folder and click on the “choose” button. In this way all the images contained in the folder will be added automatically;
  5. at this point, all you have to do is set the photo that best suits the time you’re doing the operation (if it’s full day, the one representing the Mojave by day, in the evening the evening) and then select the ‘change image’ option by setting 1 hour as an interval.

The trick is simple but effective. Now the background will change automatically every hour. Of course, the change will not happen in a precise way depending on the time of day, but it is still an effect very similar to what you get with the latest version of the Apple operating system.

How to have the dynamic Mojave background on Windows 10

Steps to install the dynamic background on Windows 10

The first step is to download the WinDynamicDesktop application on the PC from the official page on GitHub. As you can see, there are two versions of the app. the portable one you can install on a pendrive ( WinDynamicDesktop.exe ) or the one to be installed on the PC ( WinDynamicDesktop_1.2.3_Setup.exe ).

If you use the version to be installed on your computer, the screen asking you to verify the reliability of the app may exit. Confirm quietly because it has already been verified. Then click on Run anyway.

During the installation procedure you will be asked if you want to start WinDynamicDesktop together with Windows. If the answer is yes, you will have to check the Start WinDynamicDesktop with Windows option.

At the end of the installation you will have to insert also the geographical position.

Now you will see that the desktop wallpaper will change immediately, becoming similar to the classic Mojave, changing depending on the time of day.

In Windows 10 Settings, remember to configure the system to automatically set the main color of the theme. This will allow us to fully enjoy the Mojave desktop experience.

Go to the Windows 10 settings and follow these steps: Customization -> Colors ->  Choose the mode: Automatically select a main color of the background.

Enjoy now this small but suggestive change of the initial Windows screen. At the moment you can only use the image of the dunes, but on the developer’s website you will be able to discover how to diversify the initial image.
