In this guide, we explain how to block a site if you use Firefox as a browser, Chrome or Internet Explorer. All the next indications are usually valid also for devices different from the computer, because the programs and extensions useful for the cause are excellent both, for example, on the iPad, both on tablets and smartphones. How to block a site in Firefox
The question is always the same: how can I block a site? Well, if you use Firefox to surf the net, to solve the problem all you have to do is go to the browser add-ons page and download a free extension: LeechBlock.
The procedure to be adopted is as follows:
- Access the Firefox add-ons page;
- Click on LeechBlock “Add to Firefox”;
- Then proceed with “Install Now”
- And finally “Restart now”
At this point, after restarting the browser, the extension will be active. Now all you have to do is go to the “Tools” section of Firefox, select LeechBlog and proceed to “Options”. In the newly opened box you have to enter the URL of the sites you want to block, one per line.
Tip: the block can also be set for a specific period of time, such as from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Alternatively, you can always check off the option that provides for permanent blocking of the website.
The program also allows you to create up to 6 different tabs of lists of internet sites to be blocked and to add a password to prevent third parties from changing the settings.
How to block a site in Chrome
As for Firefox, even to block a website in Chrome only need a simple extension to download on the Web Store of the browser. Here’s how to proceed:
- Connect to the Chrome Web Store;
- Click on the “Add” button at the top right of the TinyFilter extension;
- At this point a window will open: click on “Add”
Now, you have practically finished everything. To block a site, all you have to do is connect to it and click on the TinyFilter icon in the upper right corner of the Chrome toolbar. From here you only have to select the item “Block this site” and then “Ok”. The annoying website is finally blocked!
Although you can not set a lock time like Firefox, you can enter a password to prevent someone from changing your settings.
How to block a site in Internet Explorer
We close our guide by taking care of how to block a site in Internet Explorer. Here, unlike the other two browsers, you do not have to download any add-ons, but you just have to go to the gear icon on the top right of your page. Then, proceed as follows:
- Select the “Internet Options” item from the menu;
- A card will open: click on “Content”;

- Now, go to the “Approved Sites” tab;
- Enter the URL of the site you want to block;
- Check “Never”
After this phase, open the “General” tab and check the item “Displaying sites without classification”: in this way, you will prevent the browser from blocking all the sites, limited to those selected – in fact – with “Never”.
