Google play services keep crashing : how to fix

To keep your Android phone or tablet – as well as the applications and games installed on it – working, you need to keep up with Google Play services. For the user, it connects your apps to other Google services (like Google Login and Google Maps) and is different from the Google Play Store because it’s included with Android. For developers, it offers the freedom to use the latest APIs from popular Google services without worrying about device support.

This component is used to update other Google apps and Google Play apps (store, movies, games, and so on). It provides authentication for services, maintains synchronized contacts, gives access to all privacy settings and location-based services with a higher quality and lower resource consumption.

Google Play Services is also able to enhance its experience with search engine applications by offering offline searches, immersive maps and a better gaming experience. And, of course, apps may not work if you uninstall Google Play Services from your phone or tablet. So the root of the problem is its absence.

If you have not uninstalled Google Play Services but still have issues with your account or some of your Google apps, see some of the suggestions.

Update Google Play Services

  1. Open the “Settings” app;
  2. Touch “Apps & notifications” and “View all apps”;
  3. Scroll down and touch “Google Play Services”;
  4. Tap to open the “app details”;
  5. Choose “Update” or “Install”.

  • Clear the cache and data from the Download Manager;
  • Uninstall and reinstall Google Play Store updates;
  • Check for updates to the Android operating system;
  • Remove and re-add your Google account from your phone or tablet.
