How to download videos from Twitter on your mobile

Most people visit social media networks to share their moments with their friends and family through multimedia content like video, images, and GIFs.

Having the ability to download this type of content is very useful and allows you to share it with other people either by reposting it on other social networks or sending it two people through instant messaging apps like Skype or WeChat.

The problem that we face most of the time anyway is that we aren’t able to download the videos or images that we want directly from within the application. This is the case with Twitter and today I’m going to show you two different methods to download videos and gifs off Twitter on your mobile device.

Let’s get started.

Method 1

The first option I’m going to speak about is an app that you can install on your Android phone. The app is free to use, but it does contain some advertisements. Head over to the Android store on your phone and type in “Twitter video downloader” in the search box. The very first result will be the app that you want to install on your device. Click on the green install button to start the process.

method1-1

After the app has finished installing close any open windows and head over to your Twitter app. Start by finding the tweet that contains the video or gif that you want to save.

Once you’ve found it click on the share icon in the bottom right corner of the tweet. A shadow box will appear with three options. Tap on the option titled “Share Tweet via” which will bring up another window of apps. Look for the icon that we just installed and tap on it.

method1-2

Once the Twitter downloader app opens, you will notice that the tweet URL has populated the input field at the top of the app. Proceed by clicking on the blue download button in the right bottom corner of the app.

method1-3

Download links will generate for the video or gif that you want to download. Click on the version of the file that you want to save to your mobile device.

Method 2

Some people don’t like installing third-party apps on their devices because they’re afraid of a potential breach in their privacy. I understand that which is why I’m going to show you a second method that doesn’t require the installation of software at all.

To start, you will need to open the Twitter application on your mobile phone and locate the GIF or video that you would like to download. If you don’t have the app, you can always do this through the browser.

Once you have located the tweet press on the drop-down arrow in the top right corner of the tweet. After pressing on the drop-down, a shadow box will appear with a few options. Tap on the auction that says copy tweet link which will save the tweet URL to your device.

method2-1

Next, we will open up our favorite browser and head over to the website http://twoffline.net. Twoffline is a web app that allows us to download content off Twitter using a straightforward interface. Once you access the site, you will have to pace the video URL into the box on the homepage with this text “please insert tweet link”. Then click on the jet video button.

method2-2

Once the button has been clicked, the website will generate some download links for the video or gif that you want to download. Select the video that you want to download and save it to your device.

What’s great about this method is it works across all platforms whether you’re on a tablet PC or iOS device. Now that you have the Twitter media that you want you can start sharing it by sending it to your friends using your favorite instant messaging service.
