How to install Android P Beta on Sony Xperia XZ2

Note that you will not have the custom skin of Sony on Android P because it has not yet been released. Your user interface will be based on the official Android firmware.

  1. Download and install Sony Xperia companion v2.1 on your PC by following the link: Download Sony Xperia Companion v2.1.
  2. Open it on your computer.
  3. Press and hold the ALT key on the PC and click “Software Repair” on the main screen
  4. Check the “Can not detect or start the device” checkbox, then click “Next”
  5. Wait for the initialization to complete, then follow the instructions on the screen.

It is not yet confirmed if it will be available for XZ2 Compact. So make sure your Sony Xperia XZ2 is one of the models H8216H8266 or H8296. You can verify it by following these steps:

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Click on Info on the phone.
  • Check the model number from the menu.
