Mario Kart Tour is the new mobile game finally releasing for iOS and Android smartphones and tablets inspired by the famous Nintendo series. The new title will be available for download for free and includes a free-to-pay mode, lots of news and all the beloved characters in the world of Mario.

Challenging each other with shells between drifting and impossible curves, using your smartphone, is reality: Nintendo has shown different interest in the mobile market in the last period, transporting two of its main series on small screens with Super Mario Run and Animal Crossing. The big N is often synonymous with portability, as confirmed first by Nintendo 3DS and now by Nintendo Switch: being able to play anywhere is a fundamental characteristic of the company, increasingly oriented towards the cross platform of its strongest series on smartphones.

Mario Kart Tour: when it will release

The mobile sector is a source of great interest for Nintendo, as recently stated by its president in an interview, and Mario Kart Tour (this will be the name of the game) has all the credentials to be a success worthy of Candy Crush, the king of mobile games.

The project was actually announced a year ago, with a tweet via the official profile of Nintendo America. The message illustrated the game’s logo and planned the kart racing debut for Mario and co. by the end of the 2018 fiscal year, which ended in March 2019.

Despite this, Nintendo has moved the release of Mario Kart Tour in the summer, between the end of June and the beginning of July, with the first invitations for the official beta already distributed for only Android users who were able to try previewing the game, reporting all the contents.

Mario Kart Tour: how to play and news

The game will be based mainly on a component of microtransactions, inserted into the game through stamina, a useful fuel to play, it would seem, only a limited number of games. Once the stamina is over, you will have to wait for the indicated time, similar to what happens with Candy Crush’s lives, before you can start playing.

Inside the Mario Kart Tour will be inserted various tracks taken from the different games of the series. The gameplay will be very simple and perfectly suited to both the less experienced players and the more experienced ones. You can play by holding the smartphone vertically only, dragging your finger on the screen to the left or right to skid and collect the various objects: no accelerator, the driver with his vehicle will move automatically.

The avatar with which to compete will be completely customizable, allowing you to choose the character and make your own Kart exactly as it already happens on the last title of the series available for Nintendo Switch and Wii U. The choice of the character will then be important as some bonuses are provided whichever is chosen and matched per track.

At the moment in the Closed Beta, which we remember is not final or accessible at the moment, the following characters have been inserted : Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Toad, Toadette, Rosalina, Waluigi, Baby Peach, Baby Daisy, Baby Rosalina, Metal Mario, Larry, Lemmy, Ludwig, Dry Bones and Dry Bowser.

From the subtitle Tour it is easy to imagine how the title, which will be available for iOS and Android, will be based on a real world tour on the tracks now known to fans. The word Tour would allude to the online connection for matches and challenges to pilots around the world. The game will be developed by DeNA, a Japanese software house that has already collaborated with the big N for Super Mario Run and Animal Crossing.
