Top 10 Most Awaited Action and Super Hero Movies for 2020

The movie premiere calendar for 2020 is now full! Next year, we’re eagerly awaiting major movie releases on a calendar that will feature superhero films, revamped classics, sagas sequels, live-action, video game adaptation, among many other categories and genres.

In 2020, for example, we’ll see the classic 1990s video game character, the blue porcupine Sonic, plus Tom Cruise on Top Gun, heroines like Black Widow, Harlequin on Birds of Prey, Wonder Woman, and, why not, Mulan on the big screen. We’ll have to be silent watching the Silence Place sequence and we’ll feel a lot of adrenaline with Bond 25Fast & Furious 9 and King’s Man: The Origin.

1. Black Widow

The Avengers saga is over, but the Black Widow character, fortunately, returns to theaters next year. The movie, which bears the “working” name of Natasha Romanoff, will tell the story of the international spy showing how she became the superhero we know today.

In addition to the Black Widow herself, the film will feature the characters Trainer, Red Guardian, Thunderbolt Ross, among others. The cast features actors such as Scarlett Johansson, of course, David Harbor, Rachel Weisz, Florence Pugh and OT Fagbenle.

2. Mulan

Next year will bring another rereading of a Disney classic: Mulan. Directed by Niki Dear, the film tells the story of Hua Mulan, played by Liu Yifei, the eldest daughter of a warrior who, by order of the Emperor of China, must serve the imperial army. However, the patriarch of the family is ill and the young woman decides to take his place on this mission.

Also in the cast are actors Donnie Yen, Jason Scott Lee and Gong Li. Mulan’s release will take place on March 25, 2020.

3. Wonder Woman 1984

Wonder Woman Princess Diana (Gal Gadot) will be back on screen in 2020 with Wonder Woman 1984. The sequel has not yet had its synopsis released, but what we know so far is that Patty Jenkis will be in the direction once again and that the plot will feature villainous Leopard Woman, played by actress Kristen Wig, and that Chris Pine will be back as Steve Trevor.

4. Sonic: The Movie

One of the most anticipated films for 2020 is Sonic: The Movie, based on the classic video game games that made many people’s childhood in the 1990s. And it’s worth noting that the trajectory of this production has not been easy: by launching the first trailer, it received criticism that the character was ugly and a little scary. A few months went by and we were surprised by a revamped version of Sonic, which finally came out looking more pleasing to the eye.

The film will show the story of Sonic, an alien blue porcupine who must defeat his biggest enemy: Doctor Robotnik, played by Jim Carrey. Sonic’s quest happens alongside Tom (James Marsden), who becomes his best friend.

5. Birds of Prey: Harlequin and Her Fantastic Emancipation

The time has come for Harlequin to shine on her own. In 2020, we will finally check out the release of the movie Birds of Prey: Harlequin and her Fantastic Emancipation, derived from the 2016 Suicide Squad. In the plot, Margot Robbie’s character joins Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett), Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco) and Renée Montoya (Rosie Perez) to defend the city of Gotham.

6. King’s Man: The Origin

For those who like action and espionage, the movie that is making everyone eager to hit theaters in 2020 is Kingsman: The Origin, third in the Kingsman saga and directed by director Matthew Vaughn. This time, the plot’s events precede the story of the previous ones, when the world’s most dangerous criminals team up to steal millions of dollars.

The cast of the plot has Harris Dickinson, Gemma Arteton, Ralph Fiennes, among others. The premiere takes place on February 12, 2020.

7. A Silent Place – Part II

The Silent Place movie, released in 2018, will win a sequel in 2020. A Silent Place – Part II will showcase the challenges faced by the Abbott family in this post-apocalyptic world where the rule of survival is to be silent.

The sequel continues under the direction of John Krasinski and the cast features Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe, Djimon Hounsou and Cillian Murphy. The premiere takes place on March 19, 2020.

8. Bond 25

Another movie from the 007 saga is coming in 2020: Bond 25. Under the direction of Cary Fukunaga, actor Daniel Craig takes on the role of James Bond once again, needing to return to the role after a while living a quiet and remote life. It all starts when Felix Leiter, a former CIA friend, asks for help in rescuing a kidnapped scientist.

The cast features names like Rami Malek (Dr. Robot), Ana de Armas, Billy Magnussen, David Dencik, Dali Benssalah and Lashana Lynch. Bond 25 premieres on April 3, 2020.

9. Fast & Furious 9

Another saga that returns to theaters in 2020 is Fast & Furious, with the movie titled Fast & Furious 9 only. Not much is known yet about the sequel, which has no official trailer or synopsis released. The only information released until the publication of this list is that the cast features John Cena, Charlize Theron, Michelle Rodriguez, Brewster Day and Helen Mirren.

The official trailer will be released on January 31st at a concert in Miami featuring Cardi B, Wiz Khalifa, Charlie Puth, Ozuna and Ludacris. The film is expected in theaters on May 25, 2020.

10. Top Gun: Maverick

For duty nostalgic, Tom Cruise back in theaters in 2020 for the continuation of Top Gun, 1986. In classic Top Gun: Maverick, the pilot finds himself in a modern world in which drones are dominating the skies and intends to prove that the Human factor is still essential in aviation.

According to the film’s producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, Top Gun: Maverick is a love letter to aviation. Check out the official trailer of the feature:
