How to connect Bluetooth keyboards and controllers to Apple TV

Apple TV (starting from the fourth generation) is able to connect to various Bluetooth accessories, whether they are headsets, controllers or keyboards. For those who do not know it, the aforementioned device has advanced capabilities (and perhaps more complex to manage with Remote only) than the third generation model and for this reason the coupling with additional devices could really improve the user experience.

In particular, in this guide, we will refer only to gaming controllers and keyboards, however the same procedure can be used for any accessory with a Bluetooth connection.

Connect an accessory to Apple TV

The steps to follow are quite simple, but for those approaching for the first time with an Apple TV they may actually be complex and cumbersome. Obviously the first thing to do will be to put the Bluetooth accessory to be connected into pairing mode. To do this you will need to follow the manufacturer’s instructions, since in any case each device has its own procedure.

Once done it will be enough:

  • Access the Apple TV main screen
  • Enter the “Settings” app
  • Continue with “Remote controls and devices” and then with “Bluetooth”

In this new screen two sections will appear: “My devices” and “Other devices”. In the first one all the devices previously connected and active at that moment will be listed, in the second all the visible but not yet paired ones will appear. Obviously at this point it will not be necessary to select the name of the accessory and, if requested, enter the PIN present in the package of the same.

To cancel the connection with a device, simply click on the name and complete everything with “Cancel pairing of the device”. There is however a limit of connectable accessories, namely: a remote control, a keyboard and four controllers (Made for iOS).
