How to enable developer options on Android
Even if you’re an average user and want to upgrade your device with a custom ROM on your Android phone or tablet, you need to enable USB debugging on your Android device.
You will not be able to enable USB debugging mode unless you enable the developer options menu on your device first.
Most of the useful features found in the developer options:
- Enable USB debugging.
- Send quick bug reports to the device.
- Show CPU usage on the screen.
- View debugging information on the screen such as layout limits and other information.

Go to Settings »Developer Options or Settings» Applications »Development.
Enable Options for Android 4.2 developers and above
- Go to settings.
- Scroll down and touch Info on your phone.
- Scroll down and find the Number Build field.
- To enable developer options, tap the Build number seven times option. After touching a few times and you will see a countdown like “You are 3 clicks from becoming a developer”.
- When you have finished pressing built number 7 times, you will see the message “Now you are a developer!”.
