Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is the new smartphone game from the authors of Pokémon Go, coming to iOS and Android. Here’s when it comes out and how to register for the beta.
Harry Potter: Wizards Unite brings the magical world born of JK Rowling’s fantasy on mobile. The new game developed by Niantic, the authors of Pokémon Go, will soon be available for iOS and Android allowing to play through the spells and magic of the world of Harry Potter even in augmented reality. There is great expectation for the release of the new game by users, who can in the meantime register for the first beta.
Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will make you impersonate a wizard or a witch in the real world, with the aim of preserving and protecting the magical world from dark threats and prying eyes of Muggles (people without magical powers).
Harry Potter: United Wizards, how it works
The game will therefore allow you to impersonate a personalized male or female avatar: you will take on the role of a member of the Task Force of the Statute of International Secrecy, a body that responds in reality directly to the Ministry of Magic.
Just like on Pokémon Go, Harry Potter: Wizards World will take advantage of the real maps of the surrounding environment, with custom streets, squares and streets through JK Rowling’s universe. The aim of the game will be to move and walk, using augmented reality, to reach different places in its vicinity by collecting objects using a system similar to Pokémon Go’s Poké Stops, solving various missions.
Here’s how Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will look in some official screens from the game
The collection of objects will be essential to fill the energy of your character, useful for the launch of the most famous spells in the saga. The magic duels will be a fundamental part of the multiplayer component: in your path it will be possible to challenge the opponents with shots of Expelliarmus and Stupeficium. To do this it will be sufficient to draw precise lines on the screen according to the chosen magic.
Even the fearsome Death Eaters will crowd the game, with the possibility of challenging the dark wizards in a group among friends (perhaps in a speculative way to what happens today in the Pokémon Go Raids).
This is the official synopsis of the game published by Niantic:
“A calamity has struck the magical world: artifacts, creatures, people and even mysterious memories are appearing in the Muggle world. The witches and wizards of all the Earth must come together to solve the mystery of the Calamity, dispersing the chaotic magic, returning everything to its rightful place, keeping it safe from the eyes of the Muggles. Your journey begins as a recruit of the Task Force of the Statute of Secrecy, created by the Ministry of Magic and the International Confederation of Wizards for the purpose of investigating and containing the Calamity”.
