How to download faster from PC
Free Download Manager (Windows / macOS)
Free Download Manager is a free software for download management, ie a program that allows you to manage downloads from the Internet. Besides accelerating the download through file fragmentation, it also has some interesting features, such as BitTorrent protocol support.
This software is available for download via the official website both on computers with Windows operating systems and on those with macOS.
If you are interested in this program, I suggest you reach your website at the link provided and click on the Download button in the top menu bar. Once you have reached the Download section, click on the Free download button, taking care to select the correct one according to your computer architecture ( 32 bit or 64 bit).
To download the version compatible with macOS, scroll down the page until you find the Download for Mac section; then click on the only link available to download on your PC with macOS.
After downloading the file, double-click on it and then click the Yes button in the Windows User Account Control window.
Start the installation process, click on the Next button for four consecutive times and then click on the Install button. Then wait for the end of the installation and then click on the Finish button.
If the software did not start automatically, use its desktop icon to open it. The interface of the software is very simple: in the bar at the top, you will find the buttons for managing your downloads, while the list of the latter is available in the central part of the interface.
Before downloading your files from the Internet, you need to configure the program for integration with your browser. Then click on the ☰ icon in the upper right corner.
From the left sidebar, click on the Browser integration item and then check the box of the browsers you want to integrate with. This procedure is important, because otherwise the downloads will be managed by your browser and not by Free Download Manager.
If you want to add a file to download, just click on the [+] button in the upper left corner; then you will see a window where you will need to enter the URL or upload the torrent file.
Instead, if you want to download a file from a website using Free Download Manager, you will just have to do is download the file normally by clicking on the relevant download button on the website you are browsing.
The download will then be automatically redirected to Free Download Manager and a window will be displayed which will indicate the folder where the file will be allocated upon completion of the download. You can also rename the file before downloading it or even plan to download it at a later time.
You will then need to click on the Download button to start downloading the file. If you want to pause a download, click the Pause button that is next to the download; when you want to resume the file, click on the Start button which is always next to you.
If you want an alternative to the program that I indicated in the previous paragraph, then I suggest you to download EagleGet. This software is distributed free on Windows through its official website; a portable version is also available at this link.
If you are interested in this program, after reaching the official EagleGet website open the link provided to you and click on the Download button in the horizontal menu bar at the top.
When you reach the Download section, click the Directly download for free button. After downloading the installation file, double-click on it and then click on the Yes button in the Windows User Account Control window.
Then click on the Install button to start the installation process, after which you will have to click on the Finish button. In case you do not want to send statistical data anonymously to the developer company, you will have to remove the check mark from the Help us improve EagleGet box.
When the program starts, you will see a Windows Security Alert for consent to access to the Internet; then click the Allow access button to continue.
You will also see a window asking if you want to use this program in your native language or keep the English language; then press Yes to continue.
After starting the program interface, I suggest you activate the torrent file download support. To do this, click on the icon with a gear symbol located in the horizontal bar at the top; in the window that will open you, click on the BT settingitem on the left. Then activate the Associate with torrent files and Associate with magnet boxes, then click on the Close button.
After installing EagleGet, start your favorite browser (Chrome, Firefox or Opera) to activate the extension that manages downloads directly on EagleGet.
For example, if you use Chrome, when you open it will appear a window to activate the EagleGet extension; then click the Activate extension button to confirm integration with your browser.
If you do not see a similar request when you open your browser, click the gear icon on the EagleGet horizontal menu bar. Then click on the Monitoring tab and make sure your favorite browser has the checked box and then click on the Repair button.
From now on, when you click on any download in a site you are browsing, you will see the EagleGet download management window. You will then need to click on the Ok button to immediately start downloading the file.
You can also manage some parameters before download, such as programming, checksum checking, or connecting with a different user-agent or entering login data (if the website requires it). From the main program interface you can manage the restoring of files.
How to download faster from smartphones
Advanced Download Manager (Android)
If you’re using a device like a smartphone or tablet with an Android operating system, you can speed up file downloads through some download management applications, similar to the computer software I mentioned in the previous paragraphs.
One of these applications is Advanced Download Manager, available for free in the Android PlayStore.
If you are interested in this application, from your smartphone tap the link that I have provided to directly open the application page on the Play store. Then tap the Install button followed by the Accept button.
When the installation download is complete, tap the Open button or its icon on the Home screen of your device.
After starting the application, you will be shown a panel for quick configuration of downloads. You can then change the folder where files will be stored, the number of simultaneous downloads, the number of parts in which the file will be divided at the time of download and the maximum download speed.
I also suggest you activate the Smart download entry and restart the download.
You can also customize many other options by scrolling through the list of items: for example you can enable the download only under Wi-Fi network, so as not to consume your data network from SIM ( Wi-Fi only ); you can also enable download scheduling when you want ( Schedule ).
To start a download using this application, you can use any browser installed on your device, or the one built into the application, accessible by tapping on icon ☰ that are in the top left and then tap on Browser in bass.
If you use your favorite browser, when you tap on a download link you will need to select the ADM Editor entry to import the download management into the application. Then tap the Start button to start the download.
By tapping on the file name currently in the queue, you will pause it; another tap on it will instead resume the download. If instead you tap on the icon on the right relative to the type of file you are downloading, you can select the file, by putting a check mark.
Then clicking on the icon with the symbol of three dots, you can manage many other features on the current download.
iDownload Plus Free (iOS)
If you use a device with iOS operating system instead, you can download apps for managing downloads that are a bit limited compared to those for Android or, in general, for computers. These limitations are mainly based on the type of files that you can download, which can exclude those of audio and video type.
Considering also that the iOS system is a closed system, you will need to use the application’s integrated browser to take advantage of the download management functionality. One of these apps that I want to talk to you about is iDownload Plus Free, available for free on the iOS App Store.
If you are interested in this application, tap the link that I have provided via your iOS device, so as to be automatically redirected to the iDownload Plus Free page on the Store. Then tap the Get button and, at the end of the download and installation, tap the Open button.
Once the application is launched, tap the Allow button to activate the notifications; then tap on Do not show again to start using the application. From the main screen you will find in the bottom bar several icons to access the different features of this app.
By tapping on the Cloud icon, you can add supported cloud services to download the files in your virtual space. By tapping the Browser icon instead, you can use the application’s integrated browser to browse and download.
On the Download tab instead you can see the list of all the files you have queued for download, which you can manage through the Files tab.
To download a file using this application, navigate through the integrated browser on the website where you want to download the file. After tapping on its download button, on the screen that appears you tap Download and then the Done button at the top right. The file will be immediately queued in the Download section.
