Guide to the new 2019 iPhones: release date, prices, design, features and news. All we know so far on the upcoming top of the Apple range.
On September 10, Apple will present the new iPhone 2019. Photos and indiscretions have followed one another for a long time, so much so that we can already get a pretty concrete idea of the design and characteristics of the next iPhone.
Those that Apple is going to launch in a few weeks could be called iPhone 11, 11R and 11 Max (or 11 Pro). According to rumors leaked so far, the range of three models, successors of iPhone Xs, Xr and Xs Max, is confirmed. They will be the first iPhone with a triple camera, arranged in a square as in the Huawei Mate 20, will be equipped with larger batteries and sold with reverse wireless charging and 15W quick charge in the box.
From an aesthetic point of view, expect models very similar to those of 2018, with some minor variations on the theme (frosted glass on the rear shell and new colors like lavender and green). The new iPhones should adopt the A13 chip provided by TSMC, which will clearly improve performance and efficiency, and will come out with iOS 13.
iPhone 11, 11R and 11 Max
iPhone XS and XS Max, presented in September 2018, have not astounded the market: as expensive as their predecessor, the current flagship is just an update of the iPhone X, which instead brought significant news in the sector.
It is therefore very likely that Apple is waiting for next autumn to present to the world the models that will make smartphones of Asian rivals look bad. Below we have collected all the latest news and rumors on the iPhone 11, 11R and 11 Max of 2019.
To learn about release date, prices, specifications, features and news, all you need to do is read this guide which will be updated as new details emerge.

iPhone 2019, design and photos: the latest news
Also in 2019 we expect Apple to offer 3 iPhones of different sizes and price ranges to offer customers more choice. The line should thus be made up of 5.8″, 6.1″ and 6.5″ models, with voices suggesting the use of a frosted glass design for the rear bodywork of the devices. As for the display, it could opt for OLED only by eliminating the LCD that is currently mounted on the iPhone XR.
The new iPhone should be called iPhone 11 or iPhone XI, and largely keep the design of its predecessors. This means that we will have a notch in the upper part of the screen and very thin stainless steel frames.
Despite the shared DNA, however, the first renderings of the new iPhone XI Max suggested an ugly device, characterized by a huge square protuberance for the triple rear camera.
The new leaked images, on the other hand, show a device with a better look. To give us a preview of the design of the iPhone 11 Max the well-known leaker @OnLeaks has thought that has published the photos in collaboration with CashKaro. Here’s how the iPhone XI Max will look like according to the latest renderings:
The rumors provided by the tipster have always proved to be reliable, but being rumors it is advisable to take them with pliers.
Rumors suggest that iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Max will be slightly thicker than their predecessors, and this would enable them to upgrade the battery. According to the latest leak, the iPhone XI will have this size: 143.9 x 71.4 x 7.8 mm (or 9 mm if we include the back of the increased rear camera), while the size of the iPhone 11 Max will be equal to 157.6 x 77.5 x 8.1 mm (or 9.3 mm with the protuberance). The current generation of iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max has a thickness of 7.7 mm.
Some sources, including the Wall Street Journal, claim that all 3 new iPhone models may not have support for 3D Touch.
Under the body the new iPhone 2019 should adopt the new A13 7nm chip updated for better performance and greater efficiency. The successor to the iPhone XR would upgrade with the 4GB RAM.
According to rumors the 6.5″ iPhone 11 Max will be equipped with triple rear camera with 3D detection for augmented reality and 3x optical zoom, while the other two should mount a double camera. We also expect a new TrueDepth sensor system in the front. Perhaps Apple will reduce the notch, considering that Samsung on the new S10 has eliminated it completely replacing it with the hole in the display.
iPhone 2019: will it be called iPhone 11 or XI?
What will the next iPhone be called? If up until the iPhone 8 it was easy to predict the name of the top class that Apple would present in the autumn, we no longer have any certainty about the change of direction of the iPhone X. We think, for example, that Phone 9 has never been released. It is therefore difficult to hypothesize the name of the iPhone 2019. iPhone XI and iPhone 11 are two possibilities, but in this case what would be the successor of the iPhone XR? The specialized magazine Macrumors considered an iPhone XT, but there is also talk of an iPhone XR2. The biggest and best performing of the three could be called iPhone 11 Pro.
The most economical model of the line-up could receive dual cameras and thus add the telephoto lens of the iPhone Xs and Xs max. the specialized Macotakara site, which has contacts with the iPhone supply chain in China, adds that the iPhone XR2 will also be equipped with fast charging thanks to the USB-C Lightning 18W charger.
IPhone 11 release, 2019: when it comes out and prices
Unlike the name (which for convenience we will call iPhone 11 or XI, or iPhone 2019 ), as regards the release, confirmation has arrived.
The presentation event will be held Tuesday, September 10th. Pre-orders on the Apple Store should start on Friday, September 13th, with shipments and official release in stores on September 20th. Last year the pre-orders of the iPhone XR started on October 19th and the device was released on October 26th. Expect at least one of the three models in the series to come out later, in October.
On the price front, it is likely that Apple will continue on the road to lowering costs started with the most affordable of the line up, the iPhone XR. Furthermore, according to some tech investors, the Cupertino company will have to reduce iPhone prices if it wants to remain competitive. It is easy to imagine, however, a price list starting from $800-850 to get even $2,200 for the top class with premium features.
iPhone 2019: features and news
With iPhone XR, XS and XS Max Apple has made progress in terms of chips, cameras and screen size, but there is always room for improvement.
According to rumors, the iPhone 2019 could be thinner thanks to a new OLED display with touch sensitivity inside. As for the design, instead, let’s not expect a big redesign: it is much more likely that Apple will remain faithful to the size and form factor of the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR for its new generation iPhone, including notch (which however could shrink). This year it kept the LCD screen on one of the lineup models, the iPhone XR. The hope is that next year the OLED panel will be characteristic of all new iPhones.
But the rumors about design do not end there: according to reports, Apple would be thinking of reinserting a much loved and lost feature with the latest models, namely the Touch ID. Patently Apple suggested that the Tim Cook company secretly filed a patent for the Touch ID display that would work together with the Face ID, for greater security and convenience, on upcoming iPhones. This Touch ID would be very different from what the users were used to: simultaneous verification with fingerprints and face is a winning solution and could end up making the iPhone an innovative identity document.
iPhone 11 with triple “magic” camera?
One of the most popular rumors on the next iPhone concerns the possibility that Apple opts for a rear photographic compartment with triple camera for the most expensive and functional model, the iPhone XI Max.
This rumor derives from the fact that in May 2018 the Deutsche Securities analyst Jialin Lu stated that Apple was designing a series of triple-lens cameras for at least one of the iPhone models to be released in 2019. According to the analyst, the triple-camera lens will offer advanced 3D detection and uses stereoscopic vision, greatly improving the features of augmented reality on the iPhone. AR that in recent years has represented an important point of reference for the Cupertino company. However, these rumors were taken down by the famous Apple Ming-Chi Kuo analyst and expertwhich in September 2018 said that Apple will not go beyond dual cameras. The reason lies in the fact that although the triple camera improves the characteristics of augmented reality, it is not such a strong reason to justify the addition of another component.
Recently, however, new voices have emerged on the subject. Reportedly, Sony is increasing the production of its next-generation 3D sensors due to the interest of phone manufacturers, including Apple. Bloomberg reports that the iPhone 11 could include the revolutionary Sony camera chip, which would power both front and rear 3D cameras. This technology opens up unexplored paths so far from the mobile sector: according to the company, there is an app where users can make specific gestures to cast spells inside the game, such as the Kinect. The phone calculates the depth of the room and accurately displays the objects and living beings in real life.
Sony already supplies the camera chips to smartphone manufacturers like Apple, Samsung and Huawei, but has not spoken a word about who could adopt this technology.
iPhone 11: processor and performance
We don’t know much about the processor at the moment. If this year with the A12 Bionic Apple has launched the most powerful iPhone ever, it is easy for the next generation ( A13 ) to make a further leap in terms of processing power, graphics performance and automatic motor learning neural.
Will there also be an iPhone 5G? It looks like 2019 will be the year of 5G smartphones, with Samsung, LG and OnePlus at the forefront, but Apple would be out of the game (at least for now). A Bloomberg report claims that Apple will not deliver an iPhone 5G before 2020, while another report states that the company is working to develop its own modem that should replace Intel in its phones.
iPhone 11 with Apple Pencil?
One of the latest rumors about the iPhone 11 speaks of support for Apple Pencil, the stylus compatible with iPad Pro and which was redesigned and improved last year. Apple Pencil 2 of the new iPad Pro offers new advanced features and magnetically connects to the tablet to recharge. Perhaps Apple will offer a similar Apple Pencil for the iPhone XI or any other iPhone with a larger screen coming out in 2019.
This was stated by Citi Research analysts in a report in which they indicate the 6.5-inch iPhone 11 Max as the device of the new range that will support the stylus. In this way the top class Apple will become a direct competitor of the new Samsung Galaxy Note10. It remains to be seen where the Apple Pencil will be stored when not in use.
It is not the first time that we hear about iPhone 11 with Apple Pencil: last year the Chinese financial newspaper Economic Daily News stated that iPhones would get the pencil support.
