Dhalsim in Street Fighter 5: Moves, Tricks and Combos

Dhalsim is another classic character in the Street Fighter series. The Indian fighter made his first appearance in the game in Street Fighter II in 1991. Now in the fifth title of the franchise, the character returns with his best known hits, such as the ability to attack opponents by stretching their arms and legs, and new combos. See the list below and learn how to get right with Dhalsim in Street Fighter V.

Dhalsim in Street Fighter 5: Moves, Tricks and Combos

1. Tips for playing with Dhalsim

As Dhalsim has a peculiar physical condition that allows him to stretch (much) more than normal, he can either do very well with it, depending on the opponent, or very badly. On the plus side, both his normal abilities and his “power” Yoga Fire (in which he spits a fireball) are great for keeping opponents at a safe distance. This is also a good opportunity to surprise an opponent using Yoga Teleport.

If playing from a distance (or even close) is great to take advantage of the “stretching” skills of the fighter, it may not be good to keep the fight at a medium distance. If you are controlling Dhalsim and you find yourself trapped in that position, the tip is to alternate low kicks and punches to leave the opponent in doubt. At the first opportunity, teleport to near or far from the other fighter.

Another way out to get back to a more comfortable distance is to use the above tactic plus the Sunburst Yoga and Fire Yoga strokes. That way, you can move quickly as soon as your opponent blocks one of the attacks.

On defense, having a good ground base to block attacks is one of the most important things to keep in mind when playing with Dhalsim. But since you can not block forever, switch the teleport with Yoga Flame and Yoga Sunbursts.

2. Tips for playing against Dhalsim

As this character’s specialty are long range attacks with training, you will be able to counterattack these hits. When Dhalsim is investing against you, it is very likely that he will use teleportation to get nearer faster. This attack is a bit tricky to deduce, so it is necessary to know the enemy well (in this case, the Indian fighter) to try to predict when he will use it.

His main tactic, to confuse the opponent, is Yoga Teleport. So it’s very important that you study this technique to have a chance to counterattack and think of a good combination of combos then.

Also watch out for the Yoga Burner, since the blow can do a lot of damage at once. There are some fighters who can use their special to escape this technique, like the leap used by the Vega.
